Bryan Vo was sitting inside a home on Birch Street late Sunday night, relaxing over a movie with his brother, when a sudden gunshot ended his life. The two young men were getting ready to head out to a neighborhood gas station for drinks shortly after midnight. Instead, a simple family evening in Wilson Borough, Pennsylvania turned into an unexpected tragedy.
Authorities say the incident unfolded inside a residence along the 2200 block of Birch Street. Bryan had recently purchased a firearm alongside his brother and obtained a concealed carry license. He was standing roughly 20 feet away in the room when his brother pulled out a Glock 19 handgun.

According to police records, Bryan’s 21-year-old brother, Thuan Vo, removed the firearm from its holster to unload it. As Thuan handled the weapon, it discharged, sending a single bullet across the 20-foot gap and striking Bryan directly in the back of his neck.
Thuan immediately dialed 911 and told dispatchers that he had accidentally shot his brother. First responders arrived at the Birch Street house shortly after midnight and found Bryan suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Paramedics quickly transported him to St. Luke’s Hospital – Anderson Campus, where emergency room doctors tried to save his life.
Despite intensive care at the hospital, Bryan succumbed to his injuries. Medical staff pronounced him dead shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday morning, leaving family members and the local Northampton County community in shock.
When officers inspected the home after the shooting, they located the Glock 19 sitting on a counter in the kitchen. Court documents show that police recovered the handgun with its magazine fully seated and a live round still left in the chamber.
Following an initial investigation on scene, officers arrested Thuan Vo and charged him with homicide. He was arraigned Sunday morning and remanded to Northampton County Prison, where he remains held without bail as legal proceedings get underway.
Police noted that the homicide charge is an official allegation as the investigation continues. Under the law, Thuan Vo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
