Friday night ride through Trumbull County ended in tragedy when a 25-year-old local motorcyclist died following a two-vehicle collision on State Route 5. The crash happened around 9:26 p.m. on September 11, 2026, near the State Route 82 junction in Braceville Township.
Devin Totherow was heading eastbound along Route 5 on his Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. Friends and neighbors in his home town of Leavittsburg knew him as a quiet, grounded young man who loved riding out on the open county roads whenever he had free time.

That routine drive changed in seconds when a Ford Mustang pulled across his path. According to initial reports, the Mustang driver was turning into a private parking lot along the highway and pulled directly into the eastbound lane, leaving Totherow no time or space to clear the vehicle.
The impact sent emergency crews rushing to the scene near the Route 82 intersection. First responders worked quickly at the crash site to stabilize Totherow before loading him into an ambulance for transport to St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Doctors and medical staff at St. Joseph Warren Hospital continued emergency care as soon as the ambulance arrived. Despite their efforts to save him, the 25-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the facility.
Word of the crash spread quickly through Leavittsburg over the weekend, leaving friends, family, and community members dealing with the shock of losing someone so young. People who knew Totherow remembered his steady presence and the everyday plans he still had ahead of him.
The loss leaves a heavy quiet across Leavittsburg and the surrounding rural roads. Those close to Totherow are leaning on shared memories, photographs, and simple stories to keep his spirit alive as they face the difficult days ahead.
