A Tuesday evening drive ended in tragedy for 36-year-old David Baisden of Hazard, Kentucky, after a two-vehicle collision claimed his life along KY-80 in Perry County. Baisden was behind the wheel of a 2015 Ford Mustang when a Jeep Wrangler crossed the raised median and entered his lane, leaving him fatally injured.
The crash happened around 5:34 p.m. on November 3, 2026, in the Bulan community. Kentucky State Police received a report of the collision and dispatched troopers and medical personnel to the scene.

According to investigators, a 2023 Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound on KY-80 when it crossed the raised median and moved into the westbound lane. The Jeep then struck the Ford Mustang driven by Baisden.
The impact proved fatal for Baisden. Members of the Perry County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene. He was 36 years old.
The driver of the Jeep also suffered injuries in the collision. However, authorities described those injuries as non-life-threatening. Perry County EMS transported the driver to Hazard A.R.H., where medical staff provided treatment.
Investigators confirmed that seat belts were in use at the time of the crash. An autopsy has been scheduled as part of the investigation, while toxicology results remain pending.
Kentucky State Police have not announced what caused the Jeep to cross the raised median. Trooper Charles Moore is handling the crash investigation and reconstruction as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
For Baisden’s family and those who knew him, the news marks a painful loss. A man who left home that Tuesday had no way of knowing that the drive would end in tragedy. His death has also brought attention to a serious collision that left one person dead and another injured.
The investigation remains open, and authorities are expected to establish more details as the examination of the crash continues.
