Katie McDevitt faces serious charges in Loganville, Georgia. The 28-year-old worked as a teacher and softball coach at Loganville Christian Academy. Walton County authorities say she groomed a 15-year-old girl from her travel softball team.
The warrant lays out the claims clearly. Private messages between McDevitt and the teen kept going even after the girl’s mother told her to stop. Those messages pointed to a romantic relationship, according to investigators.
McDevitt also set up times to be alone with the teen away from any cameras. The girl later told police about physical contact that left her feeling uneasy.
Loganville Christian Academy learned about the probe around September 24. Officials put McDevitt on leave right away. The school says the teen never attended LCA.
McDevitt was booked into the Walton County Jail on October 15. She faces a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor. Jail records list her age as 28 and her home city as Loganville.
The travel softball team has stayed quiet so far. No one from the group has answered questions about the case.
Parents in the area are talking about the situation. Many say they want clearer rules for coaches who work with kids outside school teams. The case remains open as investigators dig deeper.
