Brylan Williams was just 22 years old. He lived right here in Decatur, Illinois. On Sunday evening, October 18, 2026, his life ended in a crash that still has people talking.
It happened a little after 6:30 p.m. near South Franklin Street and East Cantrell Street. Williams was riding his motorcycle down South Franklin. An SUV turned in front of him. The two vehicles smashed together hard.

The SUV did not stay. It left the scene right away. A person who saw it all tried to help. That witness started CPR on Williams while waiting for help to show up.
Emergency crews got him to a hospital. Doctors there pronounced him dead later that night. The Macon County Coroner’s Office confirmed his name on Monday, October 19.
Decatur police are still digging into every detail. They want to know exactly how the crash went down and why the SUV driver took off. As of October 19, no suspect name has come out and no arrest has been made public.
Folks who knew Williams are hurting. He was a young guy from this town. His family and friends now face a sudden empty space where he used to be.
Police ask anyone who saw something or has video to call the Decatur Police Department. Every bit of information could matter as they keep working the case.
