Martin Barno was 62 years old when his motorcycle met an SUV on Dickinson Avenue near Noah Court last Friday evening. Police say the crash happened just before 7 p.m. on October 16. An SUV driven by 76-year-old Joseph Taub tried to turn left and pulled right into the path of Barno’s bike heading the other way.
Barno died right there on the road. Officers from the Greenville Police Department got the call and found him already gone. The impact left no chance.

Taub walked away with only minor injuries. Medics checked him out at the scene. He went home that night.
Three days later the charges came. Police arrested Taub and booked him on death by vehicle and failure to yield that caused serious injury. Those are the official counts.
Folks who knew Martin Barno now face the quiet that follows a sudden loss. He had lived 62 years full of the usual mix of work, family, and daily rides. One left turn cut it short.
The intersection sits in a regular part of Greenville where people drive every day. That Friday night it turned deadly for one rider.
Taub remains free for now under the presumption of innocence while the case moves forward. The facts of the left turn and the fatal result stand as police laid them out.
