Roy Ettinger was 23 years old and lived in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. On a Saturday afternoon in mid-September, he took his Yamaha motorcycle out for a ride through Cumberland County. He never made it back home.

The ride came to an end around 2:07 p.m. on September 12, 2026. Ettinger was riding through Silver Spring Township when his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck. The collision happened right at the intersection of Linda Drive and Green Ridge Road.

Local police rushed to the scene shortly after neighbors heard the impact. According to reports from the Silver Spring Township Police Department, Ettinger was moving at a high rate of speed when his Yamaha hit a 2008 Honda pickup truck.

First responders loaded Ettinger into an ambulance to try to save his life. Emergency crews worked on him as the vehicle sped toward Penn State Health Holy Spirit Hospital. However, Ettinger died on the way there from the heavy damage caused by the wreck.

The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office later took over the official identification. Medical examiners confirmed the victim was Ettinger and listed his official cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Coroner officials examined the severe physical trauma from the impact before filing their formal report. After reviewing the evidence from the scene, they officially ruled Ettinger’s death an accident.

Officers who worked the crash scene gathered evidence, but key questions remain unanswered. Silver Spring Township police have not yet released which direction Ettinger or the pickup driver were traveling before they collided in the intersection.

For the people of Carlisle, the sudden loss of a 23-year-old neighbor leaves an empty space in the community. Friends and local residents are left holding onto memories of Ettinger as police finish up their paperwork on the tragic weekend crash.
