Silver Spring Township police are reviewing the details of a fatal afternoon collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The crash claimed the life of 23-year-old Carlisle resident Roy Ettinger at a local township intersection.
Emergency calls came in around 2:07 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Officers responded to the junction where Linda Drive meets Green Ridge Road in Cumberland County, finding two wrecked vehicles in the roadway.

Investigating officers determined that Ettinger was riding a Yamaha motorcycle prior to the crash. According to preliminary findings from Silver Spring Township police, the motorcycle was moving at a high rate of speed when it struck a 2008 Honda pickup truck.
Paramedics reached the scene quickly and evaluated Ettinger’s condition. They placed him in an ambulance and started transport to Penn State Health Holy Spirit Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the emergency room.
The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office was called in to perform the official post-mortem examination. Authorities formally identified the driver as Ettinger and listed the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma injuries resulting from the crash impact.
Following the physical assessment, coroner officials formally concluded their initial inquiry. Their official findings classified Ettinger’s death as an accidental fatality caused by collision trauma.
Investigators are still working to reconstruct the full sequence of events that led up to the crash. Silver Spring Township police noted that they have not yet made public the direction of travel for either the Yamaha motorcycle or the 2008 Honda pickup truck.
Traffic safety in local intersections remains a focus for township authorities whenever fatal crashes occur. As officers complete their incident report, the community is left mourning the loss of a young driver whose life ended on a quiet afternoon road.
