Kim Kardashian, 46, had a medical procedure to remove irregularities from her esophagus. The experience brought back hard memories of her father.
Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at age 59. He was diagnosed and gone within about eight weeks.
Kim said she had been feeling unwell with severe throat pain. A doctor diagnosed her with esophagitis, which is inflammation of the esophagus lining.
The doctor recommended medication and a follow-up procedure. In a preview for The Kardashians she said doctors found irregularities that needed to be cut out.
“That’s the same thing my dad had,” she said.
Kim admitted she kept the news quiet at first because it hit too close to home. She hoped the medication would be enough.
Esophagitis and esophageal cancer are different conditions. There is no public information showing Kim has cancer.
The family once helped create a center at UCLA Health named after Robert to support research and care for esophageal problems.
