Tyson Alexander Grant is 27 and now sits under six criminal counts. Prosecutors in Monroe County charged him after a violent morning on Raintree Boulevard. The date was October 17, 2026. A 15-year-old boy died and two adults ended up badly hurt.
Deputies got the call just after 5:30 a.m. Someone reported an active assault and a house on fire. They pulled up to a mobile home in the 1200 block of Monroe Township, Michigan. Inside they found Trenton Grant dead. Other people had stab wounds and deep cuts. The boy’s mother and stepfather were among them.

Tyson faces open murder. He also faces two counts of assault with intent to murder. Two carjacking charges sit on the list too. One more count covers assaulting or resisting a first responder. If the jury finds him guilty he could spend the rest of his life in prison. Right now he is in a hospital across the state line in Lucas County, Ohio. His own injuries keep him there. The prosecutor’s office will ask for extradition once doctors clear him.
Trenton was a sophomore at Monroe High. He ran track, played freshman football, and sat in orchestra and piano class. Teachers remembered him as one of three students who performed with the Honors Orchestra at Eastern Michigan. The school put extra support staff in place the Monday after. Hundreds of kids later stood together at a vigil.
Family members confirmed the person charged is the older brother. The sister asked for privacy while the mother and stepfather recover. Investigators called the whole thing an isolated incident. No one else in the park was at risk.
The charges are only accusations for now. Tyson is presumed innocent until a court says otherwise. The case moves forward once he leaves the hospital. Until then the questions hang over a quiet stretch of Raintree Boulevard.
