Trenton Grant was just 15 when deputies found him dead in a mobile home on Raintree Boulevard. It was still dark on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The call came in around 5:30 a.m. about an assault and a fire in Monroe Township, Michigan.
Police arrived and saw several people with stab wounds and cuts. Trenton did not make it. His mother and stepfather were among the injured. They were taken to hospitals in serious shape. The place was a mobile home in the 1200 block.

Trenton went to Monroe High School. He played football as a freshman and ran track. He also loved music. He took piano and played in the orchestra. One time he performed with the Honors Orchestra at Eastern Michigan University. Friends and teachers said he had a smile that lit up rooms.
The sheriff’s office treated the case as a homicide right away. Investigators worked the scene with state police and the crime lab. They said it looked like an isolated fight. No threat to the rest of the neighborhood.
A few days later charges came down. Tyson Alexander Grant, 27, faces open murder. He also faces two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of carjacking, and one count of resisting a police officer. Prosecutors say he is in a hospital in Lucas County, Ohio, with his own injuries. They plan to bring him back to Monroe once he is released.
The family is left with a hole that cannot be filled. Trenton’s sister spoke for them. She said they lost a beloved brother. Two other family members still fight for their lives in the hospital. The school brought in extra counselors. Students gathered to remember him.
Life stopped for a kid who should have had years ahead. The courts will sort out the rest. For now the quiet on Raintree Boulevard feels heavy.
