Arthur Lozano never made it home that Sunday. The 36-year-old from Waco was walking on northbound Interstate 35 near Exit 300 in Temple when an 18-wheeler struck him around 12:20 p.m.
Temple police got the call and found the big truck still at the scene. The driver had not left. Officers saw right away that a pedestrian had been hit hard.

Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield checked Lozano at the roadside and pronounced him dead. No one else got hurt in the crash.
Cops say early signs point to Lozano being out on the highway itself when the truck hit him. The Traffic Reconstruction Unit is still piecing together exactly what happened.
Lozano lived in Waco. Folks who knew him are left with the shock of how fast a regular afternoon turned final. The investigation stays open.
Anyone who saw something that day can call Temple Police at 254-298-5500. Tips also go to Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477 or their website. Callers can stay anonymous.
The highway kept moving after the wreck, but for Lozanoβs people the road stopped right there.
