Around 2 a.m. Saturday a 58-year-old woman named Rhonda R. Perry crashed her scooter in Park Hills and later died from her injuries. The spot was the intersection of Dixie Highway and South Arlington Road in Kenton County.

She was riding north on her 2022 Kaitong scooter when she lost control and hit the pavement. Officers arrived to find her on the ground. It was a single-vehicle wreck.

Medics rushed her to UC Medical Center. The injuries were life-threatening. She did not survive. Police noted she had no helmet on at the time.

The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit from the Kenton County Police Department took over the probe. They are looking at every angle of how the scooter went down.

Early morning hours on Dixie Highway can be quiet. That is when this one happened. No other cars or trucks were part of it.

The investigation continues. Tips are welcome. Call Sgt. Charles Duncan at 859-392-1955 if you know anything about the crash.

Her death leaves family and friends dealing with the sudden loss after what started as a routine ride.
