Joseph Kyle Dingwall, 37, is believed to have shot his two children, Remy, 7, and Aria, 5, before killing himself inside his Cocoa, Florida home. Police say the deaths were discovered Wednesday afternoon when the children’s mother, Olivia Piccolo, arrived to pick them up and found the door partially open.

Piccolo entered the home on Sorrento Drive and found all three dead. Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV confirmed the discovery at a press briefing, calling it an apparent murder-suicide. Investigators have not released a motive, but they are reviewing Dingwall’s history with law enforcement. Records show police had responded to his home 11 times before for various issues.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. One neighbor’s doorbell camera later captured a man walking outside with a flashlight. Police believe the deaths occurred hours before Piccolo arrived.

The case has sparked questions about Dingwall’s state of mind and whether warning signs were missed. While authorities have not disclosed details, the repeated calls to his home raise concerns about what may have led to this violent outcome.

Meanwhile, the community has rallied around Piccolo. A fundraising campaign has raised thousands to help her cover funeral expenses and immediate needs. Friends described her children as her entire world. Remy was in a gifted program at school and loved video games and music. Aria was remembered as a bright, loving child who adored animals and the color pink.

Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake urged residents to support Piccolo during this time. “Show support and love because tough times don’t always last, tough people do,” he said.

The deaths have left Cocoa shaken. Police stress that the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat. But the questions surrounding Dingwall’s actions remain. For Olivia Piccolo, the tragedy is deeply personal. For the community, it is a reminder of how quickly lives can be torn apart.
