Olivia Piccolo, Cocoa Florida — Mother Finds Children Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Olivia Piccolo walked into her former partner’s home in Cocoa, Brevard County, Florida, expecting to pick up her two children. Instead, she found her world shattered. Inside the house on Sorrento Drive, her son Remy, 7, her daughter Aria, 5, and their father Joseph Kyle Dingwall, 37, were all dead from gunshot wounds. Police say it appears Dingwall killed the children before turning the gun on himself.

Piccolo had custody that day. When she couldn’t reach Dingwall, she entered through a door left ajar. Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV said she discovered all three victims inside. Investigators believe the deaths happened hours earlier, possibly around midnight, when a neighbor reported hearing two gunshots.

Authorities revealed they had been called to Dingwall’s home 11 times before for various incidents, ranging from medical issues to suspicious activity. Still, no one expected this outcome. Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s doorbell camera showed a man pacing outside with a flashlight shortly after the reported gunshots.

The tragedy has left the community shaken. A fundraising campaign quickly raised more than $15,000 to help Piccolo with funeral costs and living expenses. Friends described her children as her entire world. Remy was remembered as bright, protective, and gifted, while Aria was described as courageous, compassionate, and full of love for animals and the color pink.

Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake urged residents to rally around Piccolo, saying the family needs support more than ever. “We ask that you continue to hold them up in prayer, show support and love,” he said.

The GoFundMe page painted a vivid picture of the children’s lives. Remy excelled in school and loved video games and music. Aria adored dumplings and everything pink. Together, they were inseparable. The page pleaded with the public to remember their names, not just the tragedy.

Police say the case is being treated as an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public. But for Olivia Piccolo, the loss is immeasurable. Her children were her life, and now she faces a future without them. The community’s grief mirrors her own, as Cocoa mourns two young lives cut short.
