Kyle Paul Fauls was 31 years old when a brief high-speed police chase ended his life on a Sunday night in Rock Hill. What started as a regular weekend drive quickly turned into a fatal wreck on a quiet local stretch of road.
It all began late in the evening near West Main Street and Meadowlark Drive. Local deputies spotted a 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle cruising through the area at a high rate of speed and decided to trigger a traffic stop.

Instead of pulling over to the shoulder, Fauls took off onto Rawlinson Road. The motorcycle accelerated quickly, leaving deputies behind as the pursuit moved deeper into the neighborhood corridor.
The chase covered about a mile and a half in just seconds. Officers noted that speeds quickly reached roughly 120 miles per hour along the asphalt.
As the motorcycle approached the Rock Hill Aquatics Center, Fauls made a sudden move to pass another vehicle ahead. He cut toward the median, lost traction, and hit a drainage ditch along the left side of the roadway.
Deputies stopped their cars and ran toward the crash site to help. Officers performed CPR on the side of the road until emergency medical services arrived, but Fauls died at the scene.
The crash left family and neighbors searching for answers about how a routine Sunday night ended so fast. Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the York County Coroner’s Office are heading up the official investigation.
