A single-vehicle motorcycle crash called local emergency crews into action along Highway 336 on Sunday afternoon. Around 3:45 p.m., dispatchers received reports that a rider had lost control near 12th Avenue in Glyndon Township. Units scrambled to the scene to secure the roadway and treat the injured rider.
When responders arrived, they found 61-year-old Robbyn Su Ruff of Fargo beside her downed 2014 Harley-Davidson XL 1200V. The motorcycle was traveling southbound when it suddenly lost traction or control right near the 12th Avenue intersection.

Firefighters from Glyndon Fire and Rescue teamed up with deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to control traffic and clear the crash zone. Meanwhile, paramedics from Sanford EMS worked quickly to evaluate Ruff’s injuries and stabilize her on the pavement.
Responders noted that Ruff was riding without a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident. Unhelmeted motorcycle accidents often result in severe head trauma, making rapid medical evaluation on scene a top priority for the attending medics.
Sanford EMS transported Ruff from the crash site directly to Sanford Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. Hospital staff later reported that her injuries were non-life-threatening, bringing a sense of relief to the responding officers and medics.
An investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol determined that weather and road conditions were ideal when the crash happened. The pavement on Highway 336 was dry, and state troopers confirmed that alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the incident.
The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of highway travel, even on quiet weekend afternoons with good road conditions. Thanks to the swift joint effort by Glyndon and Clay County emergency crews, Ruff received the medical care she needed right away.
