Raul Garcia, a 42-year-old man from Sullivan City, Texas, died Thursday evening, November 5, after his pickup truck overturned while he was fleeing a traffic stop involving Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers in Hidalgo County. The crash happened around 7:20 p.m. on Moorefield Road, north of Palmview, bringing a fatal end to the pursuit.

According to the preliminary investigation, a DPS trooper attempted to pull over a maroon 2004 Ford F-150 near the intersection of FM 1924 and Western Road. The truck was being driven by Garcia, who was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation.

However, Garcia did not pull over when the trooper attempted to stop him. Instead, he continued driving, prompting the trooper to pursue the pickup. What began as a traffic stop soon turned into a chase that ended with a deadly crash.

During the pursuit, Garcia reportedly drove northbound along Moorefield Road in the southbound lanes, heading toward FM 676, also known as 5 Mile Road. His truck was traveling against the direction of oncoming traffic as the pursuit continued.

The situation took a fatal turn when Garcia lost control of the pickup. The 2004 Ford F-150 rolled over, partially throwing him from the vehicle. The crash left him with fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garcia was 42 years old and lived in Sullivan City. His death has brought a sudden end to his life, with the circumstances of his final moments now part of an ongoing investigation.
