A quiet stretch of White Horse Pike turned deadly for John Burger III on October 28. The 57-year-old Tabernacle man was on his three-wheeled motorcycle when everything changed in seconds.
Around 6:18 p.m. near Briarcliff Road in Waterford Township he ran into a car that had stopped. The impact threw him from the bike.

Officers arrived quick to the scene. They found John badly hurt and got him to Virtua Voorhees Hospital right away.
He did not make it. Staff at the hospital pronounced him dead that same night.
John had put in a full career in law enforcement. He started with Medford Lakes police, then put nearly two decades into the Haddonfield force before retiring in 2019. His old department called him a man of integrity and compassion.
People who rode with him or worked alongside him now talk about the sudden hole left behind. The investigation stays open while his family tries to get through the days ahead.
Anyone with details can reach Waterford police. John Burger III leaves behind a record of service that outlasts the crash that took him.
