Daniel Sanchez Valencia died early Friday after his Toyota SUV rolled back and hit him on Interstate 80. The 26-year-old from Wharton was driving westbound near milepost 41.8 in Parsippany-Troy Hills when things went wrong around 5:39 a.m.
He lost control of the vehicle. It veered left off the road and into the grassy median. The SUV then hit a tree hard.

Sanchez Valencia got out of the truck. Moments later the vehicle started rolling backward on its own. It struck him full on before slamming into a second tree.
The impact left him with injuries that killed him right there. New Jersey State Police Trooper Christopher Postorino confirmed the basic facts from the early check.
No one else was in the car. Troopers found him near the wrecked Toyota after the second impact.
The whole thing happened in the median of westbound I-80 in Morris County. Investigators are still looking into why he lost control in the first place.
Police said more details will come later. For now the crash stays under full review with no extra facts released.
