Wildt Hardin was just 21 when his motorcycle hit an SUV on Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte. It happened Friday night around 8:32 p.m. He was heading outbound when the crash took place near West Morehead Street.
Police say Hardin was moving at a high rate of speed on his Yamaha. The SUV, a Chevrolet Blazer driven by a 26-year-old woman, was turning left onto West Morehead Street. The two vehicles collided hard. Both had heavy front-end damage.

Officers found Hardin in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Medics rushed him to a hospital. He did not make it. His family has been notified.
Hardin graduated from Myers Park High School in 2023. He was young, with years still ahead of him. Friends and family now face the sudden loss of someone who should have had more time.
The SUV driver stayed at the scene. Police checked her and found no signs of impairment. Speed on the motorcycle side stands out as a key factor so far.
