Aaron Butler was 63 years old. He got behind the wheel of his Toyota Solara early Monday morning in north Tulsa. Around 5:57 a.m. he headed north on North David Patrick Avenue. He started a left turn west onto East 46th Street North.
A Jeep Wrangler came east on East 46th Street North. The Jeep driver could not stop in time. The Jeep slammed into the driver’s side of Butler’s Toyota.

Firefighters worked to pull Butler from the wrecked car when police got there. Paramedics took him to a hospital right away. He died from his injuries later that morning.
The Jeep driver also went to the hospital. Those injuries were not life-threatening.
Tulsa police say the case is still under investigation. They are looking at the full details of how the crash happened at that intersection.
Butler’s ordinary drive ended in seconds. One turn at an empty early hour left no second chances.
Police continue checking the scene and talking to anyone who saw what took place before the sun came up.
