Brylan Williams was just 22 when an SUV turned right into his path on a Decatur street. The crash happened near East Cantrell and South Franklin on the evening of October 18. He was heading north on his motorcycle. The white SUV had stopped at the sign then pulled out and struck him hard.

The driver did not stick around. Police say the vehicle left right after the impact. Someone nearby jumped in and tried CPR while waiting for help. First responders got Brylan to the hospital fast. Doctors worked on him but he did not make it.

Folks who knew him say he still had a lot of road left to ride. At 22 he was just getting started in Decatur. Friends talked about the plans he had and the quiet way he moved through town. That night cut all of it short.

Shyveonta D. Davis, 27, also from Decatur, ended up in custody over the hit-and-run. Officers tracked down the SUV in the 300 block of South Main. They booked her into Macon County Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash that caused a death.

The investigation is still going. Police keep looking for more video or anyone who saw the whole thing. They want the full picture of how the turn played out and why the SUV kept moving.

Brylan grew up in this same town. His name is the one people are saying now when they pass that intersection. The streets feel different after a crash like this.

A young man on a motorcycle met an SUV that would not stop. The end came quick on a regular Sunday night in Decatur.
