Luqmaan Cusmaan was 21 years old when police found him with a gunshot wound on Albert Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. It happened Monday afternoon, October 19, 2026, near the Alrahma Mosque. Calls came in around 2:12 p.m. about shots fired in the 2200 block.
Officers got there fast. They saw a young man down from what looked like a gunshot. Medics checked him right away. By 2:19 p.m. they pronounced him dead at the scene. Seven minutes from the first call to the end.

Neighbors said there was a fight with several people at an apartment complex close by. Then the guns came out. Police called it a chaotic scene with many shots fired. A second person was looked at early on but details on that stayed quiet.
The mosque had a funeral going on at the time. Cops made clear the funeral had nothing to do with the shooting. No one inside the mosque got hurt. The building itself took no damage. This was not aimed at the place of worship.
Detectives are still sorting out who did it and why. They saw several people in the area right before the shots. No arrests yet. Anyone who saw something can call the homicide unit or Crime Stoppers.
Luqmaan lived in Columbus. His family got the news that same day. Friends and neighbors talked about a quiet young man who had years ahead of him. The street stayed blocked for hours while crime scene teams worked.
Gun violence hit hard in this northeast side spot again. Police keep looking for answers in a case that started with a simple fight and ended with one life gone.
