Folks in northern Kentucky got a jolt this week when someone walking the woods off Miller Road near Crittenden came across human bones. Kentucky State Police took the call Monday around midday on October 12. The Grant County coroner bagged the remains and sent them straight to the state medical examiner in Frankfort. Detectives are still trying to figure out who that person was.
Christopher “Chris” Stidams sits in a lot of people’s minds right now. The 35-year-old man vanished from Carrollton after folks last heard from him on August 3, 2024. He stands about five-foot-ten and weighs around 120 pounds. Brown hair. Blue eyes. Two tattoos stand out—the name Carley inked on the right side of his neck and a Chevrolet bowtie on his forearm.

No one from the state police or the coroner’s office has said those bones belong to Chris. They keep repeating that the ID work is ongoing and nothing is locked in yet. Still, families who have waited years for any word tend to lean toward any new find like this.
Chris’s people have held onto every scrap of information since the summer of 2024. They remember the last phone call, the last time someone saw him around Carrollton, and the long stretch of silence that followed. Missing-person cases do not fade for the ones left behind. They just sit there, heavy.
Kentucky State Police detectives from the Dry Ridge post are running the remains case. Grant County deputies helped at the scene. The medical examiner’s office will handle the hard science—DNA, dental records, whatever it takes. That process can drag on for weeks or longer.
Until the lab results come back, nobody should jump to conclusions. Linking Chris to those woods without proof only adds more pain. The search for him stays open. The new discovery simply puts another piece of ground under the microscope.
Anyone who walked those woods or noticed something odd near Miller Road can still call the tips line. Small details have cracked cases before. For Chris’s family and every other family still waiting, any solid answer beats another day of not knowing.
