A weekend custody visit ended in unimaginable horror when a 35-year-old father allegedly shot his two young sons before turning the gun on himself on a Los Angeles street.
The victims were identified by heartbroken family members as four-year-old Jimmy Gramajo and his 11-year-old brother, Osmani Gramajo.
Los Angeles Police Department officers rushed to the Pico-Union neighborhood shortly before 1:00 p.m. Sunday following multiple urgent reports of gunfire near Venice Boulevard and Catalina Street.
First responders arrived at the scene to find both young boys and their father, Adolfo Gramajo, suffering from severe gunshot wounds.
Paramedics immediately initiated emergency care and rushed the children to nearby hospitals, where medical staff pronounced both brothers dead.
Family members recounted that Gramajo had picked up his sons for a routine visit and had told their mother he was taking them out to get something to eat at McDonald’s.
Instead of returning the children safely, the father reportedly pulled out a handgun, shot both boys, and then inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound on himself.
Gramajo survived the shooting attempt and was transported to a local trauma center, where he remains hospitalized in police custody with bail set at $4 million.
Detectives from the LAPD Juvenile Division continue to investigate the scene, working alongside primary investigator Detective Wilfredo Ortiz to determine what triggered the fatal incident.
