Ann Mannix was found dead inside her home on Strawberry Circle along with her daughter and husband. Sources say her husband Kevin shot her and their daughter before turning the gun on himself. The call came in at 5:03 p.m. Sunday.

Marin County deputies answered a report of shots fired. The person who dialed 911 had already left the house. Inside they found the three bodies. No one else was hurt.

Ann built a long career with the San Francisco Police Department. She became the first woman on the SWAT team and the first to lead it. In 2018 she was named deputy chief of Field Operations. The year after that she headed Special Operations.

Kevin Mannix had retired from the department eight years earlier. He finished as a sergeant after 27 years on the job. The family home sits in the Strawberry community near Mill Valley.

Authorities say the case is still early. They have not put out a full public account yet. There is no threat to the rest of the area.

Friends and former coworkers are left with the news of three deaths in one afternoon. The house on Strawberry Circle is quiet now. The sheriff’s office continues its work.

The community of Strawberry is unincorporated land in Marin County. It lies just north of San Francisco in the Bay Area. That is where the shootings took place.
