Harley Hall was just 18 years old when her morning drive ended against a tree. She lived in Eatonton. On Thursday, October 8, 2026, she got behind the wheel of her 2005 Honda Civic around 9 a.m. She picked up her friend Alexander Brayden Day, 24, also from Eatonton, at his place. They headed out on Putnam Beach Road in the Putnam Beach recreational area.

Deputies got an iPhone crash alert at 9:37 a.m. They found the Civic off the road. It had slid sideways along the shoulder for 40 to 50 yards. Then it went airborne and hit a big tree hard on the driver’s side. The car wrapped around that tree and hung there above the ground. Both people were stuck inside.

Harley died right there at the scene. The coroner said it was blunt force trauma. Firefighters used the jaws of life to cut her and Day out. Day had serious injuries. Ambulances took him to Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon.

Sheriff Howard Sills said speed played a big part in what happened. The force of the hit made that clear. The road runs through the recreational area by Lake Sinclair. It is a place where people go to camp and swim. That Thursday morning it became the spot where a young woman’s life stopped.

Harley had only been driving a short time after picking Day up. Ordinary plans turned into this in minutes. Friends and family in Eatonton now face the quiet that follows such a loss. The car stayed suspended until crews finished their work.

Day remains under care for those serious injuries. Investigators looked at the marks on the shoulder and the way the Civic sat in the tree. Everything pointed back to the speed and the path the car took once it left the pavement.

Harley Hall’s name is now tied to that stretch of Putnam Beach Road. The crash closed out her 18 years in a single violent moment.
