State troopers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed an off-duty firefighter on a Richmond interstate ramp late Friday night before speeding off into the dark.
Investigators say 28-year-old Ashtain Noel Davis was riding his 2025 Harley-Davidson FLTRX motorcycle between 11:20 p.m. and 11:27 p.m. when an unidentified dark SUV hit his bike. The crash happened on the ramp connecting westbound Interstate 64 to southbound Interstate 95.

The impact knocked Davis off the motorcycle, causing fatal injuries. Responders arrived quickly, but Davis was pronounced dead at the scene despite wearing his helmet.
Evidence from the crash scene suggests the fleeing SUV may have also struck a Toyota Camry around the same time it hit Davis. Detectives are reviewing roadway evidence to piece together how the getaway driver navigated away from the junction.
Based on vehicle parts left at the scene, state police believe the suspect was driving a dark blue or black Jeep Cherokee or Jeep Compass built between 2014 and 2019. The vehicle likely has minor damage on both its front and back ends, along with a missing side mirror.
The victim was a newly hired member of the Henrico Division of Fire who graduated from Recruit Academy 86 in July. Before joining the fire department in 2025, Davis had served in the military and worked in armed security.
Virginia State Police are asking anyone who was driving along I-64 or I-95 late Friday or who notices a damaged dark Jeep to call investigators right away. Any detail, no matter how small, could help officers track down the driver responsible.
