An 18-year-old teenager and his 42-year-old mother lost their lives on Saturday afternoon during a shooting at their suburban home.
Neighbors along the 3800 block of Evelyn Drive called 911 after hearing gunshots ring out across the street around 2:10 p.m.
Officers arriving at the scene located Ahmed H. Al Naser lying in the front yard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics loaded the wounded teenager into an ambulance and rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
Police entered the residence and found Nadia F. Al Naser lying inside with several gunshot wounds to her body.
Medical personnel examined the mother inside the home, but she died from her injuries before she could be transported.
Relatives stepped in to care for six other children living in the household following the tragedy.
Family friends and neighbors gathered along Evelyn Drive over the weekend to leave flowers and mourn the loss of mother and son.
