A car ended up flipped onto its roof in a roadside ditch along Interstate 95 in Portland on Thursday morning.

The Maine Turnpike Authority reported the crash around 8:12 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway.

Emergency responders located the vehicle near mile marker 46, sitting between Exit 47 and Exit 46.

Photos taken at the scene show the car resting on its roof deep inside the highway ditch.

Dark skid marks visible on the asphalt show where the vehicle veered off the road before going over.

State workers blocked off the right lane so emergency crews could reach the vehicle safely.

Officials have not stated how many people were inside the vehicle or if anyone was hurt.

Crews cleared the lane and reopened the highway by 8:40 a.m. as traffic slowly moved past.
