An early Thursday morning commute turned deadly in Davie when a violent car crash claimed the lives of two people inside a burning vehicle.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 4:45 a.m. along the 6500 block of Nova Drive after dispatchers received reports of a two-vehicle wreck.
Firefighters arriving at 6596 Nova Drive found one car engulfed in heavy flames after slamming directly into a wooden utility pole. First responders tried to reach the occupants, but the intense fire prevented anyone from saving the two people trapped inside.
Authorities confirmed that both individuals died at the scene from their injuries as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. The second vehicle involved in the collision suffered only minor physical damage, and its driver escaped without any injuries.
Police officers and fire officials have not yet released the identities of the two victims as detectives work to contact their next of kin.
