The crash happened around 10:03 a.m. on September 21 near Adams Pond Road, east of Taylorsville. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and began investigating the collision.

According to authorities, Boyette was driving a 2024 Ram tow truck west on U.S. 64 when the truck crossed the center line and entered the path of an oncoming 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The two vehicles then collided head-on.

The Highway Patrol later confirmed that no charges would be filed in connection with the crash. Investigators did not announce any additional criminal action related to the collision.
