A Friday night crash near Middleton High School left a 14-year-old boy dead, and local police have a 41-year-old woman in custody. Middleton police arrested Alyssa Louise Anderson after the vehicle she was driving collided with the teenager as he rode his bicycle near campus grounds. Anderson now sits inside the Canyon County Jail as investigators piece together what happened along the roadway.

Officers responded to the scene late Friday evening following reports of a severe collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist. Upon arriving, emergency personnel located the injured teenager near the high school. Paramedics immediately called in a Life Flight helicopter to rush the student to St. Luke’s Boise for emergency medical treatment.

Despite the efforts of doctors at the Boise hospital, the teenager passed away early Saturday morning. Authorities confirmed his death shortly after sunrise. Out of respect for his family during the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials opted not to release the young boy’s name to the public.

Anderson faces three distinct criminal counts following her arrest by local officers. Prosecutor filings list charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an injury accident. She remains held in county custody pending her initial court appearance.

The crash remains under active investigation by two separate law enforcement bodies. Detectives with the Middleton Police Department are working alongside crash reconstruction analysts from the Idaho State Police. Investigators are still determining how the car and bicycle collided and how far Anderson drove before officers stopped her vehicle.

Police have not publicly shared specific details regarding vehicle speeds or exact roadway conditions at the time of the impact. Investigators are gathering physical evidence from the crash scene and speaking with potential eyewitnesses who were in the area Friday night. Additional legal filings may follow as state troopers finalize their report.

Middleton sits in Canyon County in the southwestern corner of Idaho, roughly 20 miles northwest of Boise. The quiet community sits along the Interstate 84 corridor and forms part of the broader Boise metropolitan area. The legal proceedings against Anderson will move forward in the Canyon County court system.
