Traffic investigators in Forsyth County are examining a deadly crash at a Winston-Salem intersection that left one man dead and a vehicle turned on its side Thursday night. The wreck on Peters Creek Parkway has drawn focus to speed and left-turn maneuvers along the corridor.

Investigators identified the victim as Baxter Allen Lindsay Jr., a 37-year-old Winston-Salem resident who was riding a 2025 Suzuki motorcycle. Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department confirmed that high speed was a major factor in the fatal outcome.

It was around 8:01 p.m. when Lindsay was riding north on Peters Creek Parkway. As he approached Ethel Drive, a southbound driver attempted a left turn across the northbound lanes, setting off an immediate collision sequence.

Lindsay’s motorcycle slammed into the turning car, generating enough force to flip the second vehicle over onto its side. The sudden crash blocked traffic along Peters Creek Parkway as emergency units rushed in to secure the intersection.

Lindsay suffered severe injuries from the impact and was taken to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead later that evening. The driver of the overturned car suffered only minor injuries and refused additional treatment at the scene.

Members of the WSPD Traffic Enforcement Unit are leading the ongoing investigation. Officers are looking closely at how fast the motorcycle was going, the timing of the left turn, and the exact sequence of events that flipped the second vehicle.

As of right now, authorities haven’t filed any charges or issued citations related to the crash. Winston-Salem police have also kept details about the motorcycle’s condition and potential eyewitness statements quiet while their review continues.
