Both Rucci and her dog suffered severe injuries in the collision and died at the scene. Bystanders immediately called emergency services to report the crash.
Officers with the Thomasville Police Department rushed to the location to secure traffic. Realizing the severity of the incident, local police requested assistance from state law enforcement.
A Georgia State Patrol trooper arrived at the crash site around 2:28 p.m. Investigators shut down the westbound section of East Jackson Street to photograph the tire tracks and gather evidence from the shoulder.
Relatively few details are known beyond the immediate collision sequence, leaving relatives, friends, and neighbors in Thomasville grieving the sudden loss of Rucci and her pet. Official reports will document the crash details as state troopers finish their formal review.
