A Saturday evening turn at a suburban intersection ended in tragedy, leaving a local rider dead and county detectives searching for answers. The crash temporarily closed off a section of Clinton Avenue as investigators secured the scene.

The victim was 27-year-old Sierra Grey of South Plainfield. She was operating a Honda SBR1000 motorcycle along Clinton Avenue around 7:22 p.m. on September 12, 2026.

At the same time, a 76-year-old South Plainfield resident was behind the wheel of a Subaru Outback. The driver initiated a left turn onto Ledden Terrace from Clinton Avenue directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.

Sierra’s motorcycle struck the front driver’s side of the turning Subaru with heavy force. The impact threw her from the bike, causing massive physical trauma.

Dispatchers sent police and medics immediately after receiving a 911 call from the intersection. Emergency responders pronounced Sierra dead at the scene shortly after arriving.

The 76-year-old driver was not injured in the impact. Officers questioned him at the site while traffic officers taped off the area to measure tire marks and map the wreckage.

Sergeant Shane McCoid of the South Plainfield Police Department and Detective James Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are heading the joint probe. They are asking anyone with details to reach out at 908-755-0700 or 732-745-3437 as the active investigation continues.
