A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the January 2025 shooting death of 22-year-old Jabriel Henderson in Rochester, New York. Police say Naisir Lee Ross was responsible for the deadly shooting during a robbery involving two cellphones and bags containing drugs.
Ross was taken into custody Wednesday evening, November 4, 2026, in Brockport after an investigation that lasted nearly 21 months. The Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit and SWAT team made the arrest with assistance from the Village of Brockport Police Department.

The case dates back to January 30, 2025, when Henderson was shot at 67 Ellison Street in Rochester. Police received reports of gunfire and a vehicle crashing into a pole at about 7:30 p.m. Officers responding to the scene found Henderson in the driver’s seat of the crashed vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Henderson, who was 22, was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital. Despite efforts to treat his injuries, he died shortly after arriving. His death prompted a homicide investigation led by detectives from the Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit.
As investigators worked to piece together what happened, they determined that Henderson had allegedly been targeted in a drug-related robbery. According to the criminal complaint, Ross robbed him of two cellphones and two duffel bags containing a large quantity of marijuana, pills and mushrooms. Henderson was shot and killed during the robbery, police allege.
The investigation eventually identified Ross as the suspect. His arrest in Brockport brings a major development in a case that had remained unresolved for more than a year and a half.
Ross has been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The charges stem from allegations that he killed Henderson while stealing the phones and bags.
Ross appeared in Rochester City Court on Thursday morning, November 5. Court records show that he was remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail.
The arrest is a significant step in the investigation into Henderson’s death, but the case is not over. Ross now faces the charges in court, while the circumstances surrounding the killing of the 22-year-old Rochester man remain at the heart of the proceedings.
