Keerat Riar was 25 and lived in Clovis. Early Thursday his McLaren 720S Spider ended up on its roof on Friant Road.
California Highway Patrol officers reached the scene around 12:10 a.m. near Friant Road and Belcher Street. They found the convertible overturned. Riar was pronounced dead right there.
He had been driving north on Friant Road south of Belcher. The car was going fast. He lost control, hit the median, and the vehicle rolled.
A 68-year-old passenger sat in the car with him. The man was conscious when help arrived but had severe injuries. Crews took him to Community Regional Medical Center.
The McLaren was unregistered. Investigators said alcohol and drugs did not seem to play a part in the crash.
Riar had years still in front of him. The sudden loss hit family and friends hard. An ordinary night on the road turned fatal in seconds.
The passenger remains under care. The investigation continues with no further details released yet.
