Damion Sims Cemetery Road PA: Former High School Star Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

The same Damion Sims who once tore up the turf for Williamsport Area High School died Friday when his SUV left Cemetery Road and rolled in Loyalsock Township. He was 46 and still living in the town where he made his name as a running back.

Investigators say he was driving the southbound lane near 527 Cemetery Road shortly before 5 p.m. Something made the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer cross into oncoming territory. It went up the embankment, hit trees, and tumbled over and over until it came to rest on its passenger side.

Sims wore his seat belt. Troopers confirmed the road was dry and the sky clear. No other cars got involved. He was declared dead at the scene by the Lycoming County coroner.

Old game programs still list the yards he ran and the touchdowns he scored. Teammates talk about the way he could cut and accelerate in a blink. That version of Damion feels far away now from the quiet stretch of road where the wreckage sat.

A GoFundMe page went up quickly so the people who leaned on him can catch their breath. Family members say the sudden loss hit hard. He left behind folks who needed him around.

Police closed the road for almost three hours. The investigation is open but no charges are planned. The cause of the loss of control remains unclear.

In a place the size of Williamsport, news like this travels fast. People who watched him play as kids are the same ones shaking their heads today, wondering how a routine drive ends this way.

  • Damion Sims Cemetery Road PA: Local Father Dies After SUV Rolls Over

Damion Sims Cemetery Road PA: Local Father Dies After SUV Rolls Over

Damion L. Sims left home Friday afternoon and never made it back. The 46-year-old Williamsport man was heading south on Cemetery Road in Loyalsock Township when his 2005 Mercury Mountaineer drifted across the center line for reasons nobody has pinned down yet.

The SUV climbed an embankment, clipped a string of trees, and flipped several times before it settled on its right side. First responders found Sims still buckled in. He was pronounced dead right there on the roadside near the 500 block.

Folks who knew him growing up remember a different Damion. Back at Williamsport Area High School he was the kid who could break a run and leave defenders grasping at air. He piled up big numbers as a star running back in the late 90s. That speed and those cuts made him a local name.

Now the same community that once cheered him is mourning a father who had people counting on him every day. Friends say the hole he leaves is the kind that does not fill easy. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family cover what comes next.

State police noted the pavement was dry and the weather clear. No other vehicles were involved. No charges are expected. The coroner listed the time of the crash around 5 p.m. on October 9.

Cemetery Road stayed shut for nearly three hours while crews worked the scene. Drivers who use that stretch every day say it is usually quiet, the kind of road you barely think about until something like this happens.

Sims’ seat belt was fastened. That detail sits heavy with people who hear the story. Sometimes the ordinary things we do still are not enough when the car leaves the pavement.

Angelina Stone Erie Pennsylvania: Family Scrambles for Funeral Cash After Father’s Rampage

The house near East Seventh and Perry streets in Erie looked like any other on the East Side until Friday evening. Then gunfire tore through it and left nine people dead, including a young mother days from delivering her son.

Angelina Stone, 24, was carrying baby Kyrie. Her due date was October 14. Her 5-year-old boy Isiah and nearly 2-year-old girl Amari’anna died with her. Relatives say her father shot them and then himself.

Police rolled up after a gunfire alert around 5 p.m. Bodies were outside and more inside the home. Eight victims plus the suspected shooter made nine total deaths. Chief Rick Lorah said it ranked among the most disturbing scenes of his career.

No official motive has been released. The investigation continues. Family members have filled in some of the blanks on their own.

Aaliyah Williams, sister to Amari’anna’s dad, launched a GoFundMe titled Funeral Support for Angelina and Her Children. She said the family has nothing saved for the unexpected costs and only two weeks to finish the arrangements.

Money raised goes to the children’s father to handle the funerals for Angelina, Isiah, Amari’anna and the unborn Kyrie. The target is $40,000. As of Sunday more than $23,000 had come in from over 550 donors.

Erie sits along Lake Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania. The shooting hit a regular neighborhood and left one family facing four funerals with empty pockets.

Angelina Stone Erie Pennsylvania: Days From Birth Mom and Kids Killed by Father

Angelina Stone was 24 and almost ready to have her baby boy. Her due date sat just five days away on October 14. Instead she died with her two young kids in a shooting on Erie’s East Side Friday.

Her son Isiah was 5. Her daughter Amari’anna was almost 2. The unborn boy they planned to name Kyrie never got the chance to take a breath. Relatives say Stone’s own father pulled the trigger in a murder-suicide that also took six other lives.

Police got the call just before 5 p.m. near East Seventh and Perry streets. They found people shot outside the house and more inside. Eight people died from the gunfire. The gunman died from a self-inflicted wound. That brought the total to nine.

Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah called the scene one of the worst he had ever seen. Investigators have not said why it happened. The probe is still open.

Family members set up a GoFundMe called Funeral Support for Angelina and Her Children. Aaliyah Williams, sister of Amari’anna’s father, started it. She wrote that they have no money set aside for the funerals and only a short time to get them done.

Donations go straight to Amari’anna’s father to cover the costs for Angelina, Isiah, Amari’anna and Kyrie. The goal is $40,000. By Sunday the page had passed $23,000 from more than 550 people.

Stone lived in a quiet residential stretch of northwestern Pennsylvania. Now her family is left trying to bury four of their own at once.
